An Island With Year Round Sunshine

The island of Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands. It is the driest of all the islands. This is the perfect place to escape the cold British winter (or cold British weather in general!). There are flights at least once a week from most British airports even during winter.

SO what has the island going for it? It is ideal for families, singles and couples. There is a wide variety of activities for everyone.

The Resorts

Puerto del Carmen - This is where to head for if you want nightlife. There are many clubs and bars. You can party here until you heart is content.

Playa Blanca – This is where you go for a more relaxed holiday. The top end of the accommodation is located here and is suited for couples.

Costa Teguise – This is a perfect place for families. Nightlife is generally restricted to bars and the hotels. Many hotels cater for children too. There are lots of beautiful sandy beaches.

So what if you don’t like laying on the beach all day everyday.

Sightseeing

Timanfaya – the volcanic region of the island. You drive to one of the tops of the craters and can see some experiments showing the full power of the volcano. A coach will take you for a ride around the National Park. There are some stunning lava formations.

Cuevas De Los Verdes – these are caves were formed by the volcanic eruptions on the island. There is an auditorium where concerts take place from time to time. You will also find one of the best kept secrets of the island. Tread with care!

Mirador Del Rio – this landmark at the north end of the island gives superb views of the island of La Graciosa.

Caesar Manriques World – the local architect has combined modern buildings with the caves formed by lava flows. There is a pool which has some tiny albino crabs in it. These are the only ones in the world.

Teguise – the former capital of the island has a market on Sundays. It is worth seeing the village on another day to see the buildings in all its glory.

So if you want to spend a week or two somewhere warm, this is a place with plenty to see and do.
