I recently got my Tata Manza valued from CARS24 representative in Bhopal.
He made thorough check up of the car, checked paint thickness using elcometer, checked tyre treads using gauge, took photographs and videos of car and engine. Everything looked so professional!
But, after few hours I got a quotation from them, which was less than half of what I was getting from local second hand car dealer.
What is worse, is that the inspection report mentioned some things wrongly. The report said that my car was converted from commercial to private. This was never the case, and their representative never asked me about this. The report also mentioned that I did not have spare keys of the car, whereas I had specifically told their representative that I have the spare keys.
Next day, I again received phone call from them. I told the person that their quoted price is ridiculous. He asked what was my price. Upon telling my price, he raised his quoted price. What happened to their bidding process?
Clearly, this company tries to cheat you by looking professional, but offering very low rates. Customer is not a party to their bidding process, then how do we know that what rate has been quoted by their channel partners?
Use their service ONLY & ONLY if:
a) You are desperate to sell your car, even at lower rate
and
b) You do not want to visit local second hand car dealer.
Follow-up on my review:
Subsequent to posting my above review, I received calls from Cars24 to discuss the issues I had raised.
Regarding the statement in inspection report about vehicle being converted from commercial to private, they claimed that it is because of wrong info by local RTO.
They told me that they will get the inspection report updated, and will go for re-bid, or even re-assessment of my car.
However, they told that I will have to hand over the car within three days, if I accept their new price.
As I have booked a new car, which may take 30-45 days to deliver, and as my current car is the only means of transport at present, I have not gone for rebid or reassessment.
In view of the response received from Cars24, I have upgraded the rating. I will update my review after I get my car reassessed.
I would like to make one suggestion: before starting the bidding process, Cars24 should share the inspection report with the owner, and resolve if the owner raises any objection.
