Its been over now since I got this laptop. The day I went to get the laptop in the company’s own outlet, the sales guy installed the windows pre-loaded which comes with it and gave it to me. As soon as I reached home and turned it on guess what it did’nt start! I tried again and it start but to my utter surprise that the display was not coming at all and when I checked closely I came to thats its coming but it was so dark that it looked like the screen was turned off. Anyways I tried to adjust the brighness etc but it did’nt worked, so I took the laptop back to sales person and he checked and finally when he was also not able to fix it, he decided to give me a fresh piece.
Anyways this time I asked him not to do the installation etc. I came home did it all by myself. The first very bad thing I noticed that with Windows Vista, 512 MB RAM is a very big joke! The laptop was so slow that it was taking ages to do anything. So next day I got the RAM upgraded to 3 GB(Another expense of Rs. 2500).
I barely use the keyboard and mouse on the laptop as I prefer the external(big ones). So I have one at my office and one at home so I just hook them up in USB and do work on it. Anyways the laptop worked fine for several months then suddenly one day I needed to use the keyboard on the laptop itself and guess what few keys were not working it was ver surprising for me that I barely use the keys so how they are not working at all. Anyways I consulted the HP Care people and they said that whole keyboard will be replaced then I asked them to replace but guess what? The warranty got over just 2-3 days back so no free replacement. I asked how much for keyboard they said(Rs. 4500) I then thought not to repair at that time as I mostly used external. So I came back home.
After few days I was doing work in home when power went off and the laptop lasted only 15 minutes and Windows turned it off due to low battery. I wondered what happened and came to knew that battery became dead also. Suddenly I reliazed that this is one of those products which just lasts till their warranty and then starts falling off so people just keep on getting it repaired.
Anwyays till date the keybaord is not working and I have’nt got the battery replaced becuase it is going to cost Rs. 9000.00 so I have decided to use it as long as its working and then i’ll throw it and never see the compaq again. I have now decided to go for Toshiba or Dell.
I strictly recommend that please do not go on the words of Shahrukh Khan’s word and simply get a better laptop by not choosing compaq. Jeetna hai tujhko khud ko naa rok!
