Migraine headaches.cluster headaches.sinus headaches.toothache induced headaches.eye strain induced headaches.stress headaches.TENSION headaches. and the list goes on and on!
There are as many possible solutions for getting rid of your headaches as there are causes of headache pain. And, if that news is eye-opening, there are dozens and dozens of OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS and PRESCRIPTION DRUGS that proclaim the ability to stop headache pain in its tracks!
As a headache sufferer, I have ran the gamet of self-medicating with OTC medications as well as doctors prescribed headache miracle drugs.
DISCLAIMER! I am not a medical doctor, nurse, technician, or hospital worker. This review is from my personal experience in hopes of helping others! Thank-you.please read on.
I am a strong advocate of natural health remedies. I make several attempts at healing myself through some tried and proven techniques, prior to seeking medications from the medical profession.(Please note that I have the utmost respect for our blessed doctors, nurses and health care professions.) On that note I will share with you some natural techniques that have helped me with my headaches.
Often times, my headaches are caused by stress and tension that manifests itself as pain in my neck and shoulders. The neck muscles coil up as tightly as a watch spring. If I am on the computer, not wearing my eyeglasses, and not moving from my chair for long periods of time, well, let me just say that this is the perfect set-up for a super duper whopper of a headache! Heres what I do that seems to work like a charm.
I immediately remove the sources of my pain. I turn off the computer monitor and remove myself from the chair. I start my routine by doing some neck stretches( performed in a chicken like maneauver, forth and back, forth and back.) This begins to loosen up the tight muscles. As I walk towards a quiet dark place, I do several shoulder crunches(just like shrugging, up and down, up and down).
Depending on the severity of the headache, and whether or not the eyes are involved, I may do light temple massage(using the tips of my fingers, and gently rubbing the pressure points.continuing from the temples, across the entire forehead area in tight circular motion).
If after 15 minutes I still have the headache, I will lay down on a soft bed or sofa and apply a cold compress on my eyes/forehead(with my eyes closed underneath!) I might have my spouse put on a nature new age music compact disc that plays soft melodies and birdies chirping or ocean waves or rain.anything to relax me. Usually, I will fall fast asleep and awake refreshed and headache free!
If not, I will drink a cup of warm peppermint herbal tea with honey(known for its calming effects). I may apply natural pure essential oils on my temples, base of my neck and bottom of my feet. I prefer jasmine or ylang ylang. Be sure to sniff the oils as well, because the olfactory sense often helps to calm headache pain(or conversely, for those with severe migraines, smell can sometimes cause the onset of a migraine!)
Of course, there is a multitude of healing techiques that do work, other than those that I mentioned.
Please share yours with others and with me! God bless!
