I had a Western Digital internal hard disk bearing SN: WMAV2S060534 installed in my computer 2 years back. Suddenly it started giving problem and my system crashed.
The hard disk was now not detectable in BIOS. Since it was under warranty, I generated RMA online but later discovered that there is no courier pickup arranged but you have to deliver it personally to Accel Front Line, Tardeo, Mumbai. Hence I got it delivered personally to the service center. I got the same harddisk in return after about 18-20 days without any remark.
Recently I tried to attach it to my computer when I discovered that I did not receive new hard disk in replacement but it was the same. When I contacted AcelFront line, following was the reply:
Thank you for contacting Western Digital Service and Support. My name is Usha.
We are sorry to inform you that the defective drive under the RMA #84805018 was rejected by our Visual Material inspection department as the drive failed under physical test due to unit tampered.
This drive is not eligible for replacement and hence the same drive has been sent back to you.
If you have any other issues, kindly reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you further.
My computer is never opened in last 2 years nor anyone touched the harddisk. Hoever I did notice a dent in the corner of my HDD which was not there when I gave the same to service center. I strongly feel this is a mischief created by service center to get new hard disk from company but not to deliver it to client.
This was the first time I switched from Segate to WD and I had this bad experience. I think Ill never again buy WD drives in future. Segate has always replace my faulty HDD without problem.
This was a lesson.
