What is naturopathy? It is a treatment of curing diseases with the help of five basic elements of nature namely earth, water, fire, air and ether. Naturopathy is an art as well as a natural science. It is based on two principles:1.There is one and only one cause of all diseases, accumulation of toxic and foreign substances in the body. 2.It believes that nature and nature alone does the healing, which is brought about by one’s own body’s curative properties and defensive mechanism.
Diet and beauty: In vedic period food was called “sarvoshadha” meaning the medicines for all illnesses. Our food is our medicine to be precise.The concept of naturopathy in this regard is that the food must serve two purposes: 1.maintain the acid-alkali balance in blood. 2. supply all essential nutrients to the body. The ratio of acids to alkali is 20: 80. Acid forming food are: Meat, eggs, tea, coffee, biscuits, white bread, fried food, idlis, dosas, polished rice, sweets, pickles, ice-creams, chocolate, alcohol, cold drinks etc. which are today’s main food items. Alkali forming food are: All green leafy vegetables, fruits, milk, lemon, almonds, dates, coconut, soyabean, salad, and soup, raisins, tomatoes, cucumber, homemade butter etc. If we think of our eating habits in the context of above list we would notice that we are used to very acid forming diet which makes our blood toxic.It is only because of this that we are caught up in the web of diseases, beauty problems, medicines and cosmetics.Hence, in a fight against any beauty problem our diet should consist of 80 percent alkaline forming food.Such a diet is called cleansing diet.
Fast food vs raw food: *This is the age of palate pamperers.Our elders force us to eat leafy vegetables, fruits etc but today’s generation is much more inclined towards mc donald’s burger, pizza hut’s pizzas cakes, chocolates etc. They are no doubt good to taste.Now the question is how these food destroy your beauty? The answer is simple. All of these food contain more salt, fats and lack in fibre and vitamins. Result is overstrain on liver, kidneys and intestines leading to constipation.Intestines play an important role in beauty.It keep the body clean by excretion.Fast food were invented in America but increasing number of unhealthy people revealed the fact that these are harmful.Now even they prefer greens!
If you really want to look beautiful and young, switch over to raw food like salad atleast for one meal of the day.Include soups and juices in your diet. Have a glass of milk everyday.Detox your body once in a fortnight.the organs need rest too. Don’t use canned stuff.Don’t eat when you are not hungry.Do not drink water with meals. Don’t smoke specially hookahs-they seem to be in fashion these days, but the fact is one hookah= 25 cigarettes.Excess tea and coffee are bad for health. Avoid sweets and instead of white sugar try to include honey, maple syrup, date sugar or raw sugar.
