We got hathway 256 blast xtra prepaid Unl broadband internet connection in march 2010.The total payment of Rs 3276 for 6 months was made on 4/3/2010. The modem was installed at our house only on 12/3/2010, after making numerous phone calls on their number which is not toll free.
The break up of payment is as follows:Rs 2500 - internet charges Rs 500- modem rental Rs 276 - registration charges.
We wanted to make the entire payment via cheque for obvious reasons. But the service engineer insisted that we make Rs 2500 as cheque payment and the rest as cash. But he gave us a receipt for Rs 3276.
In the month of April, we got a bill mailed to us by hathway asking us to make a payment of Rs 500. My husband and I were confused as we were under the impression that all payments have been made from our side. I had to again call up their customer service. After around 12 to 15 calls (of listening to recorded messages, none of which are toll free), I was able to speak to one of their executives who insisted that the cheque payment was for Rs 2500 only and that they did not have any record of the cash payment made. When I insisted that I had a receipt, he told me to mail it to saritanarang@hathway.net.
I was still not happy with the way he (Vikas) spoke with me. So I decided to try my luck one more time. This time it was a lady who answered the phone, and guess who it was...yes...Sarita Narang. She too insisted that they had not received the payment. I gave her my receipt number and told her to check it properly. I asked her if they were indeed so dumb and stupid that they go around installing modems even though the modem rentals have not been paid. I think that did have some effect. She told me that I dint have to mail her anything and that she would try to see where the problem was. She said she would get back in touch with me, although I dont have any hopes.
Overall, they have successfully managed to spoil my day and waste my time and money.
If anybody else had a similar experience, please do let me know how you tackled it.
