I reside at Kundalahalli Gate at Bangalore and this is an honest review.
1. Speed - I have a 2Mbps plan and speedtest.com results is : download speed of 1.5 Mbps, Ping of 42 ms and upload speed of 0.24 Mbps. Torrent speeds are also very impressive.
2. Service and Support- They have a 24 hour helpline and I have been addressed on 2 occasions, issue resolved in 1/2 hour to my satisfaction.
3. Net Reliability - it is up 95% of the time, occasional unavailability is present, but gets resolved in half an hour maximum when it has happened. Online internet usage checking and no issues while using office VPN are also merits.
Cons:
Cost - they charge upfront for 3 months for new connection so it is costlier than others. However per month consumption cost is lesser for similar plans in Airtel, BSNL. Only 1 beats Hathway in cost -ACT. Reliance I have heard is not at all recommended by users.
Streaming of videos. Hathway uses some throttling technique so that video steaming is restricted. The videos like you tube stream at a slow rate. However this is not restricted for torrent and other file downloads, they work as expected.
Final Verdict :
Hathway is suitable only for medium usage for an normal user. If you have option of ACT, Airtel or BSNL then go for them. Airtel and BSNL have own demerits in plan cost and service support respectively. Hathway is definitely better than Tikona and Reliance.
Also I will advise not to go for the 600 kbps plan in Hathway as that is definitely unrecommended. I will say at Kundalahalli Gate (Sai Baba temple Road) the Hathway services offered are good.
