Lies, damned lies, and indiaplaza

I am sorry if this sounds like yet another rant of a customer who has been had by this company, but I would like to point out what are glaring deficiencies in their ordering process. They advertise books at a big discount and 3 day free delivery, and they charge the credit card as soon as you order. But they do not have an inventory, and their biggest lie is that the status on your order will change to "Ready to be shipped" even though they don’t have the book. The irony is that once it changes to this "Ready to be shipped" you cannot cancel the order yourself and have to raise a ticket in their customer management system. This too may not result in a cancellation - they simply won’t respond to the ticket. All the time, your money is locked and you won’t even know if it’s ok to order at another place because they won’t allow you to cancel the order.

My order was place on 16/9/2010, and it was to have shipped on 21/9 (even assuming 3 business days). Nothing happened. I raised a ticket on 21/9 and was promised that it was "Ready to be shipped" and would ship on 21/9. Nothing happened. Late evening, I got an email saying it would ship on 24/9. Nothing happened. I raised another ticket on 25/9. Nothing happened - no response to the ticket till I re-raised it on 28/9.

I get this response: " We will ship the book by 30th sept, Due to some issue in clearing the shipments with customs so there will be some delay in shipment, So We deeply regret for the delay in shipping the order, "The book that was ordered is a Tamil-English dictionary published by the Oxford University Press of India. Now why would such a book need to clear customs ? When I asked them this question through another ticket on 28/9, there was no response at all till date.30/9 has come and gone, and of course, the book is still "Ready to be shipped".I raised another ticket to ask them to just cancel my order on 30/9 and though the ticket is supposed to have been answered by 1/10, and as of now nobody has bothered responding.

To cut a long post short : AVOID.

Update 1:  My money was taken on 16/9/2010, and  as of 6/10/2010, neither has the product shipped nor has the order even been cancelled. None of the tickets to cancel the order  have been answered.

Update 2:

After several requests to cancel the order, it finally turned to  ’’’’Shipped’’’’ on 6/10 and the book was delivered on 14/10/2010 after  about one month of placing the order.
