I have been ordering only books from Indiaplaza and Thehindushopping maintained by Indiaplaza.inThey offer good discounts on books, but all that is negated by the fact that they cancel the books suddenly stating not in stock.
It does not stop with that. They do not refund the money to your account. So in case you are a cautious customer you would checked whether you received the refund. And in case it has not happened and you forgot to check it, there goes off your money.
I checked that I didnt receive my money and called them after a week. They lodged a complaint and then nothing happened. Then again I called and again they lodged it again. After 2 weeks of calling(nearly daily), they dropped a bombshell stating they had transferred the money long back and asked me to check with the bank. When the bank asked for a transaction reference, which I informed to Indiaplaza customer care, they said they will furnish it and even after one week they did not. Meanwhile I have been calling every other day.
Then one day, I am informed that I didnt pay up at all(this is for the order in which they delivered 2 books and cancelled 1). Eventually sending them the screenshot and other details they said they will refund my amount. But till date nothing. They have a ticket system in the website. But my ticket is still open and no response even after repeating the queries.
Whatever discount I got in the books is now gone on the reverse because of the STD calls I had to make to Bangalore, which is a non toll free number. I have even informed that, as a final step I have to go to the consumer court, the customer care representative coolly said, "Yes sir, you can go ahead"
I am just hoping, the readers dont make the same mistake of thinking that the books are cheaper than the other sites. You will be losing that extra discount on the phone calls.
The most sad thing is that "The Hindu", which deserves my utmost respect has lent its name to them and losing its image and value.
