I have bought about 15 items from indiaplaza.in over the past one and a half years, almost all of them being books. The only other products that I have bought from them are pen drives and a yoga mat.
I find the site to be user-friendly and it has a good collection of books to choose from, although there have been occasions when I could not certain titles that I was looking for and I had to visit other sites like amazon.com and infibeam.com.
In addition, you have a wide range of payment options to choose from: credit card, debit card, direct debit from bank account, cheque, bank draft and ZipCash. On the other hand, amazon.com accepts only credit cards.
The process for placing your order and making the payment is easy. After you place your order you receive an SMS and an email with the details: order no., shipping address, estimated date of delivery etc. These messages are sent to you after you place your order, after the order is processed and once again when the product is shipped to you. In this way you are always kept informed about the status of your order.
Most of the orders reached me before or on the date promised. On 2 or 3 occasions, when books had to be imported, there were delays but I was kept informed of the estimated, revised date of delivery. All the books were well-packed and in perfect condition.
When I registered on Indiaplaza about a year and a half ago I did so mainly for the purpose of buying books. So I considered it worthwhile to acquire a Book Club membership for Rs. 500, which entitled me to a 25% discount on the list-price of books. And this is applicable to every book that you buy during a period of one year from the date your Book Club membership becomes active. Moreover, I got a gift cheque of Rs. 500 which I used to pay for one of my orders. So, in effect, the 25% discount on books did not cost me anything. And when my membership expired at the end of a year I renewed it by paying another Rs 500. The only disappointment was that I was not informed when my previous membership expired.
So, in short, my experience so far with Indiaplaza.in has been pleasant and quite uneventful.
Incidentally, if you want to read reviews of books(or any other product) before buying them, then amazon.com is the place to visit because of the well-written and detailed user-reviews.
Another point to remember is that such sites usually have more than one edition of the same book, not just the latest one. They may be available in different formats(paperback and hardcover) and from more than one publisher. So be careful which one you buy: compare the prices and year of publication. Ideally, you should find out the ISBN(International Standard Book Number) of the book that you have in mind. On Indiaplaza, the info page of most books do not contain the year of publication. You can find this out on amazon.com by copy-pasting the ISBN into its search field.
