Krishna Cottage-Hmm......

There used to be a time when DD used to bring out serials, which not only had good content but also good entertainment. What was the secret? Well DD was the only broadcaster and a lot of serial directors then were talented and trying to explore possibilities with innovative ideas. Its not suprising to see so many of those serial directors making their mark in films these days. From Kundan Shah to Ashutosh Gowariker.

Well suddenly there came a serial called DEKH BHAI DEKH.It was inspired for sure from the west in terms of set design and technology, but what made it stand out was the Indian version it gave out and the feel-good factor the audiences had after seeing it. It was a roaring success. More so, it was just one set of a house and everything happened inside it.

Well after a long time, I saw something of that sort in Jaya TV?s Krishna cottage. Well its theme is a direct lift from FRIENDS.Thats the sore part, but otherwise it?s a pretty decent effort for Tamil audiences. This one is definitely for the teenagers and it?s conveniently timed at 10 p.m so that the guys and gals will be back.

K.C is just a couple of weeks old, so nothing much can be read into its performance or storyline, but from what one has seen, it is definitely bright days for Jaya.T.V

It?s refreshing to see new young faces in Indian T.V, who can just speak their mind out without getting embarrased. We have all grown up seeing the poor-old tearjerkers day after day. And for once it?s refreshing to see something different on Tamil channels.

K.C introduces five people.3guys and 2 girls (sorry, dont remember everybody’s name, well will try anyway). They carry the serial on their shoulders. Sai, Babu, Guy no.3, Shoba and Nivya. They are called Sam, Rags, Ardhanari, Pon-go and Maggi respectively. There is also a owner of Krishna cottage, his brother in law and a grandma (yikes, she is another sore point-Good at times, bad a lot of times).

As for the lead Sai as Sam is a treat. His comic timing body language is excellent. Watch out this guy may just make it big. Babu as Rags is a Tamil accented fellow. He sometimes overuses the pure Brahmin Tamil but when he shifts modes he is just hilarious. Guy no.3 (sorry guys, couldn?t remember his name) as Ardhanari is terrific. The way he takes his role is awesome. Nivya as Maggi is good but she gets excited a lot and over-acting comes in. If she curtails that she will go places.

The surprise packet of Krishna cottage is Shoba as Poongothai alias ’’Pongo (spell it as Po-n-go, that adds the cool bit to it). She is the matured one in the group of five. Her composure, her accent and above all a beautiful face is going to take her places. Her Tamil accent is so clean and so original. Nothing artificial about it. A crush on her is bound to happen to a lot of guys. She is the spirit of Krishna cottage.

Well begun is half done.K.C needs more originals stories, and the plots need to justify the sincerity of the 5 leads because they are giving more than 100 % and that?s what Indian Television badly needs.
