Watch it!

Having heard about ’Khosla Ka Ghosla’ since 2002, it was only natural that I would go and watch it! The film had been with Zee in 2002 and though I was a bit surprised by the UTV presentation, I assumed that keeping in line with the uncertainities in the film industry, the producers must have changed!

I am glad that I was not dissapointed. The film took me in with its flavour, its simple story and its performances. Though the ending was a bit pat for my taste, the film had enough laughs to make my ticket worth the price!

The Delhi-Punjabi flavor permeates the locations, the dialogue and the look. The performances are all up to the mark though I found Tara Sharma’s voice irritating! Anupam Kher is good. Boman Irani shows the brilliance that would show up earlier in Munnabhai MBBS due to the delay in the release of this film. Parveen Dabbas is good as the quiet guy who turns out to have some inner strength. Ranvir Sheorey is a pleasant surprise. The songs play in the background during key scenes and add to the flavor!

The settings are simple, the characters mainly believable. The fact that my wife’s family had been through the same thing and lost their land (I found out after the film) made the film’s premise realistic in retrospect.

The low budget does show through. There are some obvious continuity flaws esp. with Boman Irani’s hair towards the end.

But on the whole a worthwhile first effort and worth a watch!
