UPDATE ON 17-NOV-2010 - The review below was written in 2008. I really had a good experience that time with Ramaiah Memorial Hospital(also in 2009 May when my daughter was admitted there). I see so many complaints on this site in last 1-2 years. It is possible that many people had bad experiences recently and they are JUSTIFIED in providing their views. At the same time, they must also understand the fact that I had a better experience and I am also justified in providing my views.
My Old Review(written in 2008) below -
There was no separate category for MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, so I assume that this refers to the same hospital(because this hospital is also located inside MS Ramaiah Medical College).
I have been living near this hospital for almost 5 years now but never used its services until recently. My wife was due for delivery and we were looking for a good hospital for delivery. Her doctor referred a few hospitals like Columbia Asia, RMV Hospital, etc. We decided to give this hospital a chance.
We went and met a doctor in the Gyn/Obs department and were immediately impressed by her knowledge and caring attitude. Though there was a lot of rush to meet the doctor, we considered it worth the waiting because of the nice experience that we had with the doctor.
Later, when my wife was admitted for delivery, we had the same experience. Caring staff, clean rooms and premises, and continuous monitoring. The doctor planned everything well and ensured a normal delivery. Post delivery procedures like care for new born, birth certificate, vaccination, billing and payment were also done very smoothly.
A few days later, I had to visit the hospital again as my elder daughter had got stomach infection. Though it was a Sunday, the doctors in ICU immediately attended to her and she came out as a happy child.
We had heard lot of people having a very bad opinion about the hospital. I guess, some of them were referring to the old medical college wards that are crumbling and have poor infrastructure. The new building and set up at MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital are really good with modern equipment, highly educated and trained doctors and nursing staff, and clean premises.
We also realized that there were quite a number of people who were brought from other nearby small hospitals and nursing homes to this hospital because those hospitals couldn’t handle those patients properly. Overall, it was a good experience with MS Ramaiah hospital.
