I have used it since 2000 - its one of the first few MPFI models. While it has been the only car I have owned, I have driven several other cars. I do not consider myself an expert on cars.
*Pros:*
**Great reliability**. Have used it for long drives (Pune-Goa, Pune-Kolhapur, etc) and on some very treacherous roads. It has NEVER failed to take me to my destination or broken down on the highway. I am not a careful driver and have often given the shock absorbers and wheels a very rough time, and am always amazed at the strength this little car has shown.
**Great mileage**. I consider myself a good-mileage-driver, because I brake very infrequently :) Having said that, it gives me about 16-18 kmpl in the city (Pune - not a very vehicle friendly city) and **consistently 23 kmpl **on the highways. I have friends who also regularly get such mileages - it is not a freak case.
**Great service. **When thinking of buying a new car (I am thinking of Indigo Marina), I feel sad that I will not be able to visit my trustworthy, efficient Maruti service center.
**Great performance**. This may surprise people but the power to weight ratio for an M800 is GREAT. I dont care what auto experts say on the time taken for 0-100 kmph, but I often beat higher segment cars on the road. It is very responsive in city driving.
*Cons**:
**Low seating**. I am 510" tall. M800 s*cks big time on the low drivers seat. Taking the seat as far back as possible helps - but it does get uncomfortable on the highways. For city driving, it is OK.
** Less space. **Hey, all said and done, its a small car. Period.
**Highway safety**. Poor brakes - thats the only reason I never cross 100kmph. Flimsy build compared to other cars, and very light - I often feel the tug on the steering when a heavy vehicle overtakes me at high speeds.
**Poor AC**. Good for winters, not for summers.
