After a mileage of 36000 kms in 15 months in my previous ALTO Lxi, I have switched to WagonR Duo, for Better mileage & comfort. Here is the comparision.
Comfort;
Alto Seats 5 whereas wagonR Duo is 4. No need to bend yourself to put you in WagonR, which is the negative of ALTO. Luggage space is lesser in WagonR Duo when compared to ALTO.
Riding Quality:
ALTO is better in riding (particularly on highways). Since the car is having less resistant to facing air, it is very easy to pick up ALTO to speed (with out A/C) than WagonR Duo (with LPG Mode). The greatest negative of Wagon R Duo is the sudden fall of pickup if you reduce from 5th to 3rd and rise there on. This is very dangerous when any vehicle is following you closely. Dont hesitate to put ALARM STICKER under LPG Stciker on rear glass pane. On long rides (above 200km), I am having pain in my right toes, which never happened with ALTO.
Running costs:
My ALTO gave me 18kmpl(highways) and 15kmpl(semi-urban) whereas WagonR Duo LPG is 13kmpl(highway) and 10kmpl(semi-urban) & in petrol mode it is 16kmpl and 12kmpl respectively. On calculating the running costs, I feel ALTO is better than WagonR Duo even in LPG mode.
Conclusion:
Nothing attractive in WagonR Duo in terms of comfort or mileage when it is compared with ALTO Lxi. In fact taking reverse in ALTO is as easy like forward driving. But in wagon R it is the negative point. Considering the 1.25 Lakh extra amount, my vote is for ALTO Lxi than WagonR Duo, as there is no big advantage in owning WagonR Duo
