Do Avoid Buying A Micromax Phone

Micromax A 115 3D was delivered to me on 27th May 2013. I fell for the naked eye 3D which is irresistible however the fantasy ends there. The 3D effect is really awesome. It features a camera which can take 3D pictures and I found that to be good too. About the quality of the camera , read on.

The cost to features of this phone is unbeatable. Micromax is known to provide a highly featured phone at a low cost. The end product is cheap. From the time I received this phone it has been perpetually on charge despite the fact that I don’t use the phone for gaming. My usage is mostly mails calls and text. I am not dependent on my phone or any other inanimate object.  Thus my usage is limited and the battery could not support even such frugal usage.

The camera is mediocre. I used to get crisp pictures of documents using my Nokia 2.3MP camera thereby not needing to scan the document for emails. This Micromax takes blurred images at closeup thus the document is rendered unreadable.

I later realized that the headphone jack was faulty, Could hear only one side. The address of the service center provided by micromax website turned out to be wrong. I had to hunt for the service center. Finally when I reached the service center there was chaos reigning supreme there. it was a shoddy electronic shop which was authorized by micromax. I was instantly horrified since I have seen the service center’s of Nokia and Samsung. I informed the gentleman at the counter about the faulty Headphone jack and he said I shall have to leave the phone with him and return after 8 days.

He informed me that the repairs can be carried out in 2 hours time but it takes 5 days for the spare to arrive. In the meanwhile the phone has to be left at their center. Micromax has a policy that for any spare change the phone has to be deposited to their service center. I waited a while to see how the other people there were being treated. I was aghast to note that they were reduced to a bunch of pleading and cajoling group having bought a phone had no other means but to endure such torture.

Some had deposited their phone 2 months ago.  I rushed out in apathy and realized that I should have listened to my friends when they advised me not to go for a Micromax product. Through my contacts I got in touch with the main dealer of Micromax, who was kind enough to put me to a new service center. At the new center I was told that it is the policy of Micromax that the handset has to be deposited. This place was better than the previous one so I did deposit my phone there on 31st July 2013.

Mr.Suresh was kind enough to provide me with an alternate phone as standby till my phone gets repaired. I don’t miss my phone as I have a similar phone without 3D of course. I am planning to exchange the micromax A115 3D to buy a samsung. Don’t mind paying more but what is the use if you pay less and are not able to use a product like micromax.

Pathetic cheap service by the company as my phone is still with them. Before buying a micromax product do visit a service center near you spend about an hour and then I dare you to buy a Micromax.

15-08-2-013 to 26-08-2013.

I write several mails to service.superfone@micromaxinfo.com, the mail ID mentioned on the box. I get a standard reply that my complaint will be looked into and that I shall be informed very shortly of the status. I don’t get any reply for three days so a naturally I write back. I get the same standard reply that they value me as a customer and blah blah but no status on the phone. After three mails and no reply, I get an SMS on 31-08-2013 that I can pick up my phone from the service center.

I visited their service center only to be told that the courier has not arrived. I visited their service center on 04-09-20-13 and the my phone was given back to me. I was asked to check if the complaint had been resolved. So after assembling the battery and the back cover I try to switch on the phone, guess what? the on/off button is missing. So I patiently ask the lady if this can be rectified locally or has the phone to be sent to Bangalore again. She had the audacity to tell me that one could use a pen to switch it on and off.

I lost my cool and another job sheet was prepared. The right side of the phone was damaged and the touch on the left bottom was raised. I seriously doubt if the phone will work ever again. I now feel that I could have left the music jack as it were and exchanged the phone for some other android device.

10-09-2013.

I am yet to receive my phone.
