The Unsung Hero Gets A ROK(R)ing Tribute.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this phone’s name is that its born to entertain. And it does that very well, almost. I bought this phone 17 months ago and it works exceptionally well. It costed me Rs. 13, 750 and I bought an aftermarket Bluetooth headphone(Rs. 3, 200) to complement it.

Only once did I crash it into a telegraph pole at 60 kmph(it fell out of my pocket), that its SD slot was affected and didn’t work properly. I had it serviced and it hasn’t given me problems so far. Find that hard to believe? Its only because of the metal body that it didn’t crack in half whereas most phones would. The most likable thing about this phone is its amazing and durable touch-screen which seldom refused to respond to each command.

It has just the right sensitivity and never irritates. My favorite aspect of this phone is that you can use it at the speed of light and it will obey. It is amazingly fast to use if you know how to make use of its maximum potential.

The music player sounds pretty decent and so do the speakers. They are quite loud and sound nice. However, if you are an audiophile, then get yourself good earphones. Because you can use any earphone/headphone with it because of its 3.5-mm jack.

I used it with iPod earphones and it sounds incredible. It has a 2MP camera with decent recording and more than adequate clarity. Sadly though, it doesn’t have flash. But it has manual focus adjust, which can be used for close-ups or for far-away targets.

Also it has an open source O/S( Linux) which means that one can hack the phone and install third-party softwares. Only a geek can do this. Using this I installed an iPhone theme which suits the phone greatly. There are many more such softwares and games which I installed. I myself had to consult a highly geeky friend of mine to do all of the above.

Now, the dislikes:One thing that I don’t like about the phone is that it doesn’t support many video resolutions. And that 2GB is the maximum you can put in this phone. The battery life is good but takes time to re-charge. One nitty-gritty is that it doesn’t send files that quickly but receives them pretty fast(BT 2.0). Messaging in this phone was tricky, it does take time getting used to. It also depreciated rapidly, but who says this doesn’t happen to almost all phones today? Thats all I have to say that I hate about the phone.

The final consensus of this review is that this phone is great value for money today, and just as great an experience to use. Its a great phone and I’m satisfied with it.
