I started my web surfing with IE. Even though I did come across host of other browsers like Opera, Nothing appealed me enough for me to ditch IE. After all IE was used by more than 95% of web surfers and that was enough for me to continue on IE atleast from the security point of view. Then on Nov 2004 I came across Firefox and ignored it. Couple months later I again saw firefox in the news so I decided to give it a go.
When I used firefox the first thing I noticed was the speed. The speed was better than IE, and the 2nd best feature of firefox was the tabbed browsing which lets u open multiple pages in a single window. I am surprised why has IE not included this feature in them. This is one of the best feature a browser can have. Although I heard that IE will indeed have this feature in their Rel 7. Other than that the look and feel of firefox was good. More page viewing area, popup blocking option, Multiple Integrated search engine, better search function and many more. So my recommendation to serious Internet surfers is Yes to firefox.
But there are some cons as well associated with firefox. Some E-comm site might not work with firefox as they are IE compatible. I have faced some problems while doing online transaction with Firefox. So in that case one has to use IE but with Firefox soon catching up on the popularity I am sure those sites would be modified to accommodate Firefox as well.
Happy surfing......
