Pre pay your loan as soon as possible. Even if you pre pay a small amount say 1 lakh it goes a long way in reducing your interest outgo. Check with ICICI about the pre payment options. I too was a victim of this greedy bank. I pre-paid my loan of 20 lakhs in 6 years and my total outgo was 28 lakhs m read more...

Thanks for the information. So effectively your penalty+ HSBC service charges=31000 were added to your outstanding amount and moved to HSBC. If you have negotiated a better interest rate with HSBC it makes sense in the long run. Currently I pay 13.25% floating. Unless I get at least 2% less than wha read more...
I am also the victim of the same. I have a query though. How can you move your loan to another bank? ICICI has a penalty on such transfer. The penalty is 2 or 2.5% of the outstanding principal amount. I am eager to know what have you guys done about this.

How can one transfer the loan somewhere else? There is a penalty charged for the transfer. The penalty is somewhere like 2-2.5% of the outstanding principle balance. I tried but had to step back because of the epenalty
