Let me tell you about Munnar. It is a part of teh Kannimalai hills in Kerala. It is about four and half hours by road from Kochi(Cochin). It is really speaking a small town of sorts and has quite a few intresting places near it.
I went there in Feb this year. Take it from me its was quite cold in the morning and evening, daytime being excellent!.The place is a photographers delight.
The roads are line with tea gardens..The famous Kanandevan Tea is manufactured here.Tead estates line the road and its a delight driving around in Munnar for site seeing.
The places to visit are listed below:-

Mattupetti dam - an hour maybe from Munnar. It is a cattle ranch.
Swiss farm project - this is a swiss joint venture for agriculture or something.
Kannimalai tea factory - you can have a hands on on how tea is made
The game reserve where a rare type of mountain goat is found.See this place at all cost, not to forget a visit to a tea garden - you can literally walk into the garden but please dont damage the plants.

Dont even attempt to litter over the game reserve it is the cleanest in Asia.
Dont bother with mobile phones they dont work there
STD/ISD booths are plenty so dont worry
Accomodation is easy but Im noty sure of in-seaon. But there are plenty of places and to suit every budget too.A few good resorts are also there.
Transport is by taxi or jeep and as mentioned earlier it is costly coz you haveto pay to and fro charges.
The place is perfect for honeymooners and general tourists too. Its not croded like Ooty.
