Excellent in parts

(Since other reviews have described the characters and story, I shall not redo that)

The movie apart from its steamy scenes has a few things that make it watchable. In a number of scenes it scores over other stereotype bollywood movies. The events do fall into a logical sequence, quite unexpected normally from a movie that has been promoted as a movie full of bare dare scenes.

The transitions of Mallika Sherawat’s character (simran) from a good woman to bad and back to a good woman are dealt beautifully to say the least. The two scenes in particular that stand out were:

  1. When simran is confronted with another woman with her boy friend sunny. Her realization of her mistakes and complete readiness to accept the guilt is quite convincingly presented. The scene was quite less melodramatic, accompanied by much less tears then shed by amitabh in K3G. Although I fail to feel any sympathy for unnecessarily glorified characters like worthless Raj of DDLJ or the mawali madhav of RHTDM , I could welcome this transition in Mallika’s character.

  2. The scene where Mallika tells her friend that she wants to tell her husband about her relationship with Sunny, her friend tells her why she shouldn’t confess it. The reason that she gives was indeed quite meaningful. That conversation to me was the highlight of the film.

Sure some thinking has gone in making this film.

Apart from that too, the story has very few weak links. The only unconvincing part was the character of sunny, Mallika’s boyfriend. He had a relationship with another woman too, which makes one believe that he is only interested in sleeping with as many women as he could. However he is obsessed with Mallika so much that he risks his life for her sake. This did not quite come out well.

Though not a hair raising thriller, but the pace is quite good. Mallika has surely proved that she can act.
