Gone are those days...........

Here is something that I want to share with all the mobile users.

It was on November 2004 I bought this Nokia 3220 my first ever mobile phone. Now its almost 6 years and still I see it as good as it was on the first day I brought it :)

I brought this mobile when it was just launched in India. It was one of those few handsets in the model assembled in Nokia, Finland.

As for anyone looking for a mobile phone for the first time I wanted the best of feature sets and spent sometime in web to chart down what was there in the market. But finally I was attracted to buy this one because of two things the express on lights and the vga camera ( best available during that time).

It carried a price tag of Rs.10700 + Rs. 750 for the Boom head set. After paying it all I became the proud owner of this fabulous handset from Nokia. Brought this one from Nokia Priority, Coimbatore

The dancing lights, its shiny appearance of sleek chrome line and the dark violet like blue, the vga camera all kept me somewhat inspired till today.

Handset used to hang during the first 3 months and I had got the software upgraded from HCL infinet free of cost. Since then have had no issue with the handset at all.

I have to replace the white rubber light caps by the end of 2nd year as it started wearing off as I rub on it. So had to pay Rs.600 and I got it replaced from Nokia Priority, in Jayanagar 4th block, Bangalore. The replaced once were of nice quality. The one came with the handset was very soft but had a nice grip.  Nokia improved the light grips by harding it a little bit. So it doesn’t get rubbed off as the one originally fixed in the handset.

Just a couple of months back I replaced the cover panels (9pounds). My sis helped me getting it from UK. I have to replace its keypad as well but I am yet to find a genuine one.

During the first year I extensively used the camera and the games ported in the handset and by the second year it was only the calls and contact books.

I followed some conservative actions after the 2nd year when I felt the need to prolong the talk time

=> changed the call alert tone to incremental beep ( this way I can avoid power used by speakers)=> turned off vibrator since then=> switch off the mobile phone while travelling in train=> occasionally  I turn off my favorite dancing lights as well.

these thing helped me prolong my battery life. trust me I am still using the original battery supplied with the handset.

Used to get a talk time of 3hrs in the beginning with vibrators/ringtones. Now it has gradually came down to 40Min. Still I feel handy.

when I visited europe I brought the monkey explorer ( a solar charging kit with lithium battery back). we can charge any gadget that employs a battery. this helps me powered where ever I go :)

After almost 6 years of usage, still I am excited about this mobile :) may be its a kind of first love......

have dropped this mobile many times, luckily I was not penalized with any damage.

with this I meant to say "Gone are those days....... when Nokia used to make fabulous handsets"  ; )

this is truly the view I derived from the comments my friends using the recent nokia handsets models.

i strongly believe that spending money on mobile handsets is a mere waste beyond a basic level. I see people are paralleled nowadays just because of greed and spend hefty money on mobile phones, most cases the purpose is not justified..........its perceived more than a gadget nowadays, which I differ

Thanks for your patience in reading this :)
