N-GAGE QD – THE ULTIMATE GAMING MACHINE

N-GAGE QD – THE ULTIMATE GAMING MACHINE

Though this concept of games being included along with mobiles reaches back to years ago, the ultimate 3-d gaming experience was firstly introduced by Nokia ingenious models N-Gage™ and N-Gage QD™.

I am not including the phone specifications in this review as it is easily available in the form of pamphlets in the market, I would rather include the basic advantages and disadvantages in practical usage of this particular model N-Gage QD™.

It is much smaller in length than the older version of N-Gage, and also the usage is pretty much like any other Nokia models. It makes use of Symbian 60 operating system. It fits into the pocket pretty well and the speakers do keep up the great reputation that the older N-Gage has made up. The keypads are a pleasure to be pressed and the joystick is just perfect for games. (4 way)

This model is particularly favourable for people on the move and of course persons between the age group of 12-24. Hardcore 3-d games match the graphics of PS™ one graphics or even better like that of Doom, Splinter cell etc. It does play MP3s and also plays videos, although it does not come along with an integrated camera. It also has the ability to open xHTML web pages. We cannot criticise the phone for being slightly non traditional in shape, they have just made it trendy and have tried to copy the likes of Gameboy™ Advance, although our N-Gage QD is much, much more advanced a gaming machine than the Gameboy console. It also supports multiplayer gaming which is a very strong point of this machine.

I don’t see many disadvantages considering its cost, it is a very cheap phone, that any kid can buy it. It doesn’t contain a theme changer and its phone memory is pretty low (3-4 MB). The phone does not come with a memory card by default, and so the only way to make the games work is by adding a memory card, because most of the high 3-d rendering games do take memory up to 30 or 40 MB.

The memory cards are available in the 128 Mb, 256 and 512 Mb storage capacities, 1 GB are also available in the market, which are not that cheap. I think for a normal persons use with an average no. of games, a 256 MB memory card would be more than enough.

Another thing is that multiplayer gaming either makes use of WAP or Bluetooth. The use of Bluetooth eats up a lot of battery, so make sure the phone has enough charge before its put into play.

It also has other additional features such as voice dialling, hot keys etc. It can take up any other software that our Nokia 6600 is able to work with. Moreover, it’s a pretty big hit in the market.

As far as I am considered, it’s a pretty good buy, people who are planning to buy this need not think about any thing else, the gaming feature is awesome.

So are u games to buy one?

There are various number of games and software required to actually bring your N-Gage to a cool level, some of the most essential ones are:-

  1. Smart Launcher for themes

  2. SeleQ file manager

  3. MP3 player

  4. Camera FX for photo editing

Here I am mentioning some of the most powerful games for this model, which are not very easily available on the net, I mean full versions, an internet savvy could probably track down the full versions, they are:-

  1. Fifa 2005

  2. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

  3. Saga of Stone

  4. Prince of Persia: Sands of time

  5. Tiger Woods Golf

  6. Virtua Tennis

  7. Rally Pro

  8. Bluetooth Darts

……. And many more, most of the above mentioned are 3-d I suppose, there are an enormous number of games available on the net in the form of Java games. These are perfectly playable on N-Gage QD too. A very useful site to get all the downloads, most of which I have mentioned are available at this site ---> https://imserba.com . Enjoy!!!

This review is based on my brother’s new N-Gage QD set. For any other phone related problems or want to know any other technical aspect of phone, you may mail or message me, also read my other reviews. Thank you.
