I bought This Micrawave( Onida Black beauty PC-23) from NEXT outlet at Ernakulam, Kerala on 4-February 2011. I went there to buy an IFB mocrowave but I got fascinated by the styling of the Black beauty and decided to buy it.
After one week from purchase, my microwave failed to do the "microwave" function. It would work in the grill and convection modes but not in microwave mode. I registered a complaint and after a long wait the technician came. He identified that the reason is a failed magnetron and promised to replace the same within two days but didn’t care to do till the next week.
After the magnetron replacement, the oven worked for 10 minutes but failed again just after the technition left. After registering another complaint and a lot of phone calls, another technician came and found that the problem is with the transformer and replaced the transformer after one more week.
The history repeated, the mocrowave worked for almost half an hour and failed. I had to register one more complaint regarding this. This time they played smart. They took the microwave to their service centre and did not return it for two weeks. I lost my patience I told them that I would register a petition at consumer court if they are not returning the oven immediately after servicing.Anyway they returned it in another two days and left. When my mother tried to operate the same she got an electric shock from the Oven.
I called the manager of the service center and told him the issue. He assured me that he will immediately send another technician, but I insited on replacement OR money back. I warned them that if they don’t agree, I would file a petition at the consumer forum. After one week they replaced the microwave. So it took more than three months to get it replaced. I am not sure when is it going to fail again.
I strongly recomment you NOT to buy this product unless you are ready to spend a lot of time calling the service centre and to see your brand new product in Non-working condition for a few months. If you are lucky, there is a chance of getting an electric shock from the Oven too.
Don’t select any product based only on the looks. Remember "All that glitters is not gold."
