Not Just The Eiffel Tower

This is labelled one of the most romantic cities in the world although I have yet to make use of it as a destination for that purpose!

It is such an easily accessible city for us Brits – we can fly, take the train through the Tunnel, or take a coach with a ferry trip in between.

Accomodation in the city ranges from one star hotels in the outskirts of the city to the top end of the market. As such it caters for all pockets. Restaurants have a similar range although you tend to find consistently good food wherever you eat (although I am not referring to McDonalds here!)

There are so many famous landmarks to view in the city:

· The Eiffel Tower – probably the most well known landmark in the city and a most for anybody (even if you are frightened of heights!)

· The Arc De Triomphe – possibly the second most famous landmark although you may be dicing with death if you try to cross the road here – use the subway instead! You will se the eternal flame which burns in memory of those killed in the First and Second World Wars.

· Musée d`Orsay – the converted railway station which displays more modern works of art especially from the Impressionist era (the likes of Monet, Van Gogh and Manet)

· Notre Dame – a beautiful gothic church. You never know you might even see the Hunchback!)

· The Louvre – even if art isn’t your favourite subject it well worth a visit to see the glass pyramid.

· River Seine – there are actually some surprisingly good value cruises along the river. Many leave from near to the Pont D’Alma which many people may find themselves near to in search of the spot where Diana, Princess of Wales was killed.

Of course there are many more places to see. It all depends how much time you have to spend in the city.
