The heat is on.No its not the Glen Frey number that I am talking about. It really is hot out here in Mumbai. And how hot it is I learnt, when I was on leave from my cool A/C office. The weather is the pits. But then again, its not the weather that I am here to talk about. After a long tiring day, tired of walking around, thirsty and tired, I spotted this cool drink shop at Dahisar.
For me it was like sighting an oasis in the desert. I hobbled off to the shop. The see thru refrigerator was filled with Soda bottles, and coke ( I did not wanna choke), and other drinks like mirinda apple and the like. I could not spot sprite or lemonade anywhere. So I hobbled off to the shopkeeper, and requested for a lemony drink. I was asked by the fella, lemony like sprite or lemonade ?. I said lemonade. Andimmediately he whipped out pepsi aha. He said he was told by the company that it tastes like lemonade. Well, not that I was trusting ( I hate pepsi), but I was too tired and so I took a large sip out of the bottle. Its amazing, folks. The first word that came to my mind, soon after was Sucker. Man o Man, what an eyewash. All it tastes like is pepsi, only a wee bit stronger, and less sweeter. Thats it.
The only thing different are the packing, 3 more letters spelled out as Aha, and the advertisement. For the advt doesnt freature any movie star. These are the differences only. Geez! What do these companies take us for. They are just minting on the fact, that the average Indian can be hoodwinked into drinking anything that is advertised well. And since they could not sell a stronger version of pepsi, they dish it out as a lemon drink. Friends, there is nothing lemony about it. Only under deep hypnosis would anyone agree to that aspect of taste. I felt after the sip, that I was better of with the soda. a dash of lemon and soda, would have been the best thing for me. And that is what I had, to wipe out the taste of Pepsi aha. Eaargh!
