The girl was a poor basket seller but was innocent looking, simple dressed and had sharp eyes. The girl has pale skin, shiny black hair, and dark, expressive eyes. She has a graceful gait and a dignified look. The narrator meets the girl twice, but never sees her again. He feels a sense of familiarity with her, almost like meeting an old friend.
