A patriotic movie with a difference. The best way to describe this movie.
A movie no Indian should miss watching it. A story with a difference. I rate this movie 5+ star movie.
Rakeysh Mehra has made an extra ordinary movie after his Aks boomed at the box office. Aks was an excellent movie but it did not work fine at box office. Rakeysh has improved and also noted all his mistakes of Aks.
The star cast is excellent as if the role were tailor made for all character. The movie has given all characters equal justification and nobody dominates the movie.
The movie also keeps its grip from start to end and the end is extraordinary.
A brief note in regards to the story. The movie starts when Sue Alice pattern wants to make a Documentary on the Diary of her Grand father is short of funds and comes to India. After doing a lot of Auditions she meets these five College boys and sees the characters of Bhagat Sing Chandrasekhar Aazad and so on in all of them. The Boys initially are not that serious about the characters and feel nothing can change the system in India. As Sue starts shooting the movie they start to get the feelings as what the freedom fighters would have felt while taking the bold steps.
Here life takes a deep cut and they are in the same position as the freedom fighters were during British rule. Madhavan a friend of this 5 boys and an Air force pilot dies in a Mig 21 Flight crash. The Minister blames Madhavan for his carelessness but the real reason was the cheep and duplicate spare fitted on the Mig. This does not end here and the minister gives order to lathi chare where the boys were protesting peacefully for the death and resignation of the minister. Madhavan Mother goes in Coma and now they start a new freedom fight against corruption and the government. They take the same decision which Chandrasekhar Aazad and Bhagat sing had taken after the Jalyanwalla baug massacre.
The main Key point to the success of this movie is the extra ordinary efforts of Rakeysh Mehra in directing this movie. This is also the first movie in last 15 years to do shooting inside the Golden Temple as shooting was not allowed. Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan Kiron Kher and others tae a dip in the holy sarovar.
The movie also landed in much controversy lately. First, the Indian Air force claimed some scenes were objectionable. As the film was based on the story of Flight Lieutenant Abhijit Gadgil who died in a MiG-21 Indian Air Force claimed it as human error. But, after investigations, it was concluded that the problem lay in the MIG-21. They later gave the film a clean chit.
This was not the end now came Lok Sabha MP and animal activist Maneka Gandhi objected to certain scenes showing Aamir riding a horse. The scene has been deleted. But if you still love to view the same it is available on the net in the sight promos and downloads.
