Gourmet cuisine from God's own land-Kerala!

Rice boat-gourmet cuisine from God’s own country Kerala. This one is sure to surprise its diners with exquisite keralite cuisine.Hidden away in Bandra East off the highway lies a small joint with very simple looks from exteriors. You are sure to miss it.Its a restaurant by Ravi Bakhru, which specialises in south Indian cuisine more precisely Keralite cuisine which is not so popular.

It’s a small yet comfortable restaurant with very few clients. The waiters are well-dressed in traditional kerala attire of mundu and jubba, they are well knowledgeable about the food they are offering so you can trust and take their help in ordering your food.

As for the décor-they have tried well to give it an elaborate underwater theme with mirrors, cutouts of silver sea weeds, black tables with holes depicting bubbles. A warm and inviting interiors.Adequate lighting and a nice ambience.

Food wise one has to mention about their traditional thalis which are called ‘Sadya’.It has an option of veg and non-veg version. In kerala this is served during the festival of onam and has seven different kinds of vegetables and condiments alongwith three varieties of payasams(kheer). Also several courses of rice in order of dal’sambar, buttermilk and rasam. In riceboat sadya consists of two appams which I must say are very delicious, three vegetables, sambar, rasam, some banana chips, jaggery banana chips kerala style papad, chutneys, rice, payasam, buttermilk etc.You must try all of their desserts which are quite exotic.A very elaborate meal which you won’t want to miss.Another unique feature is that they serve the food on banana leaf and they insist you to wash your hands in their traditional brass utensil after eating.

All of the above is well priced at Rs.225 only. They also serve ala carte. I think the place is very reasonable and worth a visit. The ala carte is even lesser in price!

This place is ideal for kitty parties, small group’s outing, also a must to be mentioned is a business client specially if the person is a south Indian because its for sure that he’s going to thank you for his introduction with the place! In a place like Mumbai where you can hardly find a good south Indian authentic restaurant as because here they sweeten up the sambar which I find is the heart of a proper southern meal, you will be delighted to have a good meal at a reasonable price!
