Royal China the new Chinese restaurant behind Sterling Cinema is a foodies delight. It has several branches abroad, notably 4 in London itself. What is fantastic about the food is that they have maintained the highest quality standards & one need not worry about the freshness of their ingredients at all. The decor is in fact far better & more upmarket than their London branches. The characteristic of their food is that it is extremely authentic & not at all adapted to Indian tastes as are many existing chinese restaurants.
For lunch they serve a selection of dim sums, some of which are the fried prawn & coriander dim sum, steamed prawn & chive dim sum, pork buns & chicken cheung fun. There dim sums are light & tasty & each portion has only 3 pieces, enabling you to order several different varieties at one sitting. The dim sums are served fresh & hot & are a delight to try.
Their soups are also quite nice.
Their crispy aromatic duck served with pancakes & plum sauce is superb. Salt & pepper prawns / squid are made with a nice crisp batter topped with a melange of suteed onions, red chillies & tasty herbs & spices.
Their main courses are also excellent. Try the chicken in black bean sauce. The tenderloin is tasty, tender & delicious in all their tenderloin dishes.
The desserts are very disappointing however, so don’t expect too much as far as that is concerned.
A familiar face managing the show is T.T. Ling(ex-nanking), who ensures the best quality , tasty food & (unlike Nanking) a very clean kitchen.
They have an excellent drinks menu too, with both Indian & Imported liquor served at not too unreasonable prices. Overall the prices are high but not exhorbitant.
The overall service is quite good, efficient & courteous, including services like the receptionists, valet & security.
Definitely worth a try - If you order the right dishes I guarantee you’ll keep going back!
