By Samsung C110, I am instantaneously reminded of a slim exquisitely designed colour mobile handset best suited to the current trend.
Replacement of the old handset
My dad possesses a Motorola colour handset but just in about 4 months from the date of purchase, the mobile started giving too much of problems, like worst reception, voice breaking during conversations, battery not getting charged & many times it required some one to hold the charger pointer to the handset, etc. The service center was not able to permanently sort out any of our complaints & soon we really got too fed up with the mobile. In fact the cost of it was also not much negligible, we bought it for around Rs.7, 000/- & that was the most disappointing factor!
We have also written several letters to the Motorola Company at Bangalore with copy of our letters marked to their authorised service center “Shriram Telecom” at Egmore, Chennai, requesting for a replacement of the handset. It is highly frustrating that until date, we have never received even a single reply from the Company for any of our letters. Why are these so very established Companies react in such disgusting way to its valuable customers? But, due to my dad’s round-the-clock engagements he really doesn’t wish to get involved in a prolonged Sue… chal then…Shhhhhhhh….
Our Choices
So, since we really required a replacement of the above handset, we decided to choose something among the reliable brands like Nokia, Philips, Samsung & Sony Ericcson. Since all of us in our family possess different models of Nokia, my dad desired to go in for something new. My cousin owns an older model of Samsung purchased 2 years back and he informed us that he is completely satisfied with the handset and his recommendation to us was Samsung. Based on a few other suggestions, we short-listed Samsung & Sony Ericcson for their extensively ranging models at cheaper prices.

When we visited the UniverCell Showroom situated at Alwarpet to choose a new handset, something between Samsung & Song Ericsson, while we browsed through the different stylish models of Samsung & Sony Ericcson, our first choice was this Samsung C110 model, weighing just 76 g. Wow….. when we saw this handset, it was surprisingly too sleek, light-weighted & Slim, perfectly fitting in the hand !!!
Clarity in Ringtones
Added to the attractiveness of the handset, are the polyphonic ring tones. Although these ringing tones are not as heavier as the mono ones which really jaaars in silent atmospheres, the ringtones are really not as complainable as has been described by the other two MSians in their reviews. The polyphonic ring tones in this instrument have an immense clarity and are very melodious & easy on the ear!!! We were informed by the Authorized Dealer that the new “Hi-fi ring-tone technology” has been used in this model. Especially when you load the cine-songs, they are excellent to hear and makes others hearing it to express a word of appreciation to us. But amidst the heavy traffic, you could always put it on vibrate mode so that you get to know about the incoming call.
Special Features of Messaging
As regards the text messaging, the graphical colour display makes it very easy to read the messages and for composing SMS text too, it is ideal. The extra feature in this model is that, it is possible for us to send sounds, pictures, animations and formatted text in our message and this is called the Enhanced Message Service (EMS). Readers….. please correct me if I am wrong!!
There are lot of excellent modernistic features available in this sleek & slim handset & well, some of them include :
• The WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) Technology, which enables the users to access the mobile internet
• New Games could be downloaded and stored
• It could store upto 500 names and numbers (the booklet also specifically mentions as 1.5MB Shared memory)
• The Battery could withstand upto 3 hours talktime (wow!!!!) and upto 90 hours standby
• All other routine features like calendar, calculator, alarm, reminder settings, etc. are available too.
We love it
Right from the moment of purchasing it, we really started loving it. We loaded a few Tamil & Hindi film-music in the ringing tones & they are really very pleasant. The first day we didn’t know exactly how to browse the internet and go on to the news section, but the booklet provides each & every miniscule details about the usage of the mobile.
Conclusion
I think I’ve covered everything that I know of, about this mobile. I am sure all the mobile freaks would unquestionably love this colour handset, especially for its features for such an economical cost aspect. Its certainly a good deal when you get such an advanced instrument especially with a colour display for a cost of around INR 5500/-.
It’s over 6 months since we have purchased this instrument and it is working really very good and despite having so many additional advanced features which are being extensively used, there have not been any incidents of breakdowns. I 100% recommend this model to one and all, I think its real value for money (This is my opinion & persons having any objections, could always put in their words in the comments section).
