This review is on the TV show - Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle.
Am I actually the first person to write a review on this show? I dont believe this!! I thought that this was a popular show, but I guess its popular with kiddies only and they dont have time to write reviews. Uh oh, a scary thought: Maybe I am writing this review under a wrong show, and if I am, then I wanna say a secret - Life goes on!
Another ridiculous secret I wanna say is that sometimes I like to watch cartoons, and kiddie shows like Say Na Something to Mr. Anupam Uncle, even though I am far from the 10 and under age-group (Is Anupam Uncle listening?).
Please dont scorn and judge me. I cannot help it; it is the stubborn kid in me that compels me to watch Anupam and his show which is shown, where I live, on a channel called TV Asia between 5:30-6:00 p.m.
Anupam Uncles show is about Mr. Anupam Kher (well-known comedian, villain, director, drunk daddy, and etc.) inviting kids to his show and asking them questions. In most of the shows he invites two girls and two boys preferably under the age of 10, and all the shows are based on a theme.
This show is divided into the following four parts:
::Introduction - each child expresses their likes and dislikes
::Interview - each child is asked questions by Uncle
::Say Na Secret - each child tells a cute secret to Uncle
::Conclusion - Uncle asks more questions and ends the show with him dancing with the kids as the credits of the show roll by.
What are some of the pros and cons of this show? Yes, even a cute innocent kiddie show like this one has cons.
PROS:
Adorable little kids
Clean show for kids
Very well-designed and very kid-friendly set/stage
Host - A cool, calm, collected Anupam Kher
Unique themes
Very well-organized show
Catchy title song for kids
Helps adults enter and understand a childs world
A very funny show, because kids are so natural; unlike many adults who are self-conscious, diplomatic, and inhibited.
This show always brings a smile on my face and helps me de-stress myself after a long day at hell (I mean at work).
After watching this show, I feel everything is shho cute and syrupy shweet.
Speaking of genuine entertainment, Anupams show beats, pounds, minces, andmakes chutney out of the missing link Kekta Kapoors brand of shows. I would rather watch reruns of Anupam Uncle all day long than her horror shows.
CONS:
- Anupam should really refrain from asking some questons. For example, some of the questions he asks these little kids that I find questionable are:
-Who do you like better: your mommy or daddy?
-Do mom and dad fight with each other?
-What do they fight about?
-Do they hit each other?
-Do you get hit by your mom, dad, teacher, etc. etc.?
By asking these nonsensical questions - What is Mr. Kher trying to prove by embarrassing the poor kid and putting him on the spot in front of millions of people who are scrutinizing him, including his parents. Or, are the makers of this show just trying to spicen up their show with these cheap questions?
I mean come on Mr. Kher no parent is perfect, and why dont YOU tell us if you prefer your mummy over your daddy or vice versa. And if you are so concerned about childrens welfare , then why are you embarrassing them in front of so many by these idiotic questions. Would it not be wiser to keep in mind that sensitive private family issues is not for public enjoyment.
This show would be excellent if questions like the above-mentioned would be left out of the script, because these questions will only end up causing the viewing public to judge the childs family in a negative light.
A case in point: I remember in one episode, Mr. Uncle asked a boy some questions about him and his dad which resulted with the little boy breaking down in tears, because supposedly his dad was being too hard on him. My heart went out for this little boy, but I think all this could have been avoided since it just ended up embarrassing the boy and his dad in front of millions.
Furthermore, I dont think the reason why these parents send their kids on this show, and keep Uncles tv show running is so Uncle can expose their poor parenting skills in front of the world.
AFTERTHOUGHTS:
What if this show was hosted by other funny celebrities?
Say Na Something to Johnny Uncle: If Johnny Lever hosted this show, then this show would become riotously FUNNY!
Say Na Something to Paresh Uncle: A natural comedian, Paresh Rawail, would give this show its icing.
Say Na Something to Shekhar Uncle: Shekhar Suman would probably tell the kids Laloo and Sonia jokes, and greet them in his Jay Leno style.
A final secret: Say Na Something to Anupam is a nice show that can be made into an excellent show.
