I have a SBI Tata Card. It provides a 1% cash-back on all transactions in the form of loyalty points. I get 1 point for every Rs 100 spend. Each point is worth Re 1 which effectively gives a 1% cash-back. On some spends at Tata owned stores(Croma, Westside) additional 1 point is also given. This is a good deal.
On the con side, there is a heavy penalty on using Tata Card for foreign transactions. I stayed at a hotel paying almost Rs 1.1 lakh. On this Tata Card charged 3.5% as foreign transaction charge which came as a big shock. They are already earning from the merchant. Why fleece the customer for more money?
