“A man without education is a man without the soul” – But just a mere graduation or a post-graduation would never lead a person to a secured career. In this advanced computerized world, it is essential for every person to be a computer literate.
IT Training Centres:
During the initial ‘80s, it was the time when Chennai was getting started with a few IT Training Institutes and lot of vacancies were opening up abroad for the computer literates of India. It was also the period when graduation & PG courses like B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.C.A., M.C.A. & M.Sc. (Computer Science) were getting popular and had good future career prospects. Already lot of candidates were taking up B.E. at that time which was the ultimate place for the intelligent students. But for those who couldn’t step into this professional course, were started getting into these UG & PG courses. But right from the late ‘80s, students did start realizing the need for an extra computer qualification in order to get them settled into a stable job due to the excessive competitions in the software field and ultimately ended up into these IT Training Centres which were emerging extensively all over the city and were also being advertised greatly.
NIIT & Aptech :
While the most popular IT Training Centre like NIIT had very good faculties and provided excellent course materials, their charges for training were very high and the duration of the courses fixed were pretty longer.
M/s. Aptech, which later on came into the picture, did have good technically qualified faculties but their course materials were not upto the quality of NIIT although their course fees were quite competitive & standard of education was good. Some of the other good IT Training Institutes like the ICCS, IICS, CSC etc. also did give better course materials but the physical coaching were not upto the quality of NIIT or Aptech.
SSI :
M/s. SSI Ltd. was established in the year 1991, which offered very good training in Java, Oracle and the basics like Unix, C, C++ etc. During the initial 2000s, SSI’s IT Training sector was merged with Aptech for providing better training for the software students. SSI also provides extensive IT Training in other software programmings, but their HTML sessions were excellent effectively handled by technically qualified well-versed teachers.
Me at SSI :
I was a student of SSI during the period 1998 – 2001. I registered for a Course in Unix, C, C++, Java & HTML Programming. After my initial discussions with the Manager of the Centre, I took up the Scholarship Exam and secured 35% discount on my course fee. I also wrote the Scholarship Exam for Oracle and managed to obtain 50% discount on the course fee.
During my initial few classes at SSI, our tutor was almost like one among us (the students) and he was happily taking classes for us and spent a few minutes chatting with the students thus making us comfortable about our computer class. We were given an Identity Card just like the other Institutes and had to sign the Attendance Register during every class.
Soon, we started enjoying to take up our classes because of our good tutor. At the end of every session, we had Exams and they were all just “Choosing the correct answer” type and to pass out those exams, we must have compulsorily visited the Lab every alternative day. The tests at the end of each class helps us a great deal to perform very well in our final exams.
Since I had already done my 2 years course on basic computer software before joining SSI and was also a mathematics graduate, I didn’t really have much of a difficulty in understanding the classes at SSI. So, I think if one has basic knowledge in computers, then he would get to understand the classes at SSI better.
A Few Good things about SSI :
•SSI has more than 200 branches in India
•SSI provides very good course materials – their books come with glossy covers & the materials contain clear and easy-to-understand manuscripts
•SSI has a 24-hours Lab and students could spend their time in the Lab at their convenience
•SSI has its branches at most of the heart-of-city areas of Chennai (since I am in Chennai, I am saying this)
•In case a student registers himself at any specific branch of SSI, but during the middle of the course he happens to get transferred to any other area of the city or to any other state, he has the option of continuing his Course at his area. This is one of the best advantages of SSI.
•Course Fee is very reasonable – SSI also conducts Scholarship Exams and the students would be offered from 25% to 75% scholarship, based on their performance and the average monthly income of their family.
•SSI has a 10 hours Library
•SSI has a Placement Chamber, which gives the students the right advice and suggestions on choosing the right career and the Placement Cell also offers interviews with a few IT Companies for the outstanding students of their Institute.
Finale:
“A single conversation with a wise man is better than ten years of study” – This is the reason people say that one should get a judicious professor, through whom even the most stupid students become knowledgeable and conversant with the subjects. This way SSI proudly possesses good technically qualified tutors and most of them are the old students of SSI itself.
Due to the aforesaid points, I highly recommend SSI IT Training Institute to my dear friends.
I do hope all of you had liked this review……….. do provide me with your valuable feedbacks on the review and also you could share your experiences with SSI, if any. Rating / Commenting are most welcome !!
Take care,
Jaya
