SBI's Website Is Equally Bad

Reproducing my mail to the OnlineSBI.com people. I am sure they have enough unlucky customers like me who go through the tragedy of transacting on their website on a daily basis. Incidentally, SBI prides itself on its online services which are nothing but abysmal by any standards, and ridden with illogical code-based rules which make complaint resolution impossible.

Moreover, the website keeps logging you out every few seconds. The website is heavy on Internet resources, totally rigid in its functioning and user interface and logs you out without any warning or reason in the name of security. SBI’s stupid IT staff thinks that systems are more important than customers. See below complaint filed after SBI’s website kept stalling my attempts to register a complaint on a payment not going through:

Dear sir,

You should give account holders a longer time to check their accounts on the Onlinesbi.com website. Logging account holders/customers out when they are either typing in a complaint or doing other deposit-related activity is very rude and inconsiderate. It also wastes the valuable time of the account holder.

When a complaint has to be filed with specific information like transaction reference number and reference ID your website does not allow it to be filed. It says that "special characters" cannot be allowed. Is there any rationale to this kind of behaviour or is it just another bureaucratic figment thrust by you upon your customers?

An account holder who types in longer complaints is often delayed by your website in this manner, and frequently logged out. I find this reprehensible and condemn your bad attitude towards customers.

I must say that no online bank website has such unfair and unreasonable demands on a customer’s time and patience without doing what is the most important ie., helping the customer carry out his financial requirements.

Please do not think that customers will take such behaviour lying down. You should ask your conscience whether you are doing the right thing and if your basic goals of customer service are being fulfilled.

With regret,

Ravi
