I have bought Sun Direct in May 2010 keeping the below points in my mind:
I watch TV only 4-5 days (few hours) in a week in Bangalore and travel to Chennai for remaining 2-3 days.
Cable TV cost is high in my area in Bangalore (Rs. 300 monthly + Rs.500 installation)
Low Cost (Rs. 100 monthly (basic pack) + Rs.1350 installation)

The service was fine for my friends & relatives, who use sundirect about 2 years
Initially it seemed to work fine. However, after a month of time, started facing so many interruption and many channels are not broadcasted and the reason they told was "due to satellite problem".
After someday, they started displaying info that "the set top box needs to be replaced with new one for all customers". But they did not replace the Setup Box for me so far.
After somedays, they started displaying info that "dish needs to be retuned to new sattelite as we moved to new sattellite". Then, Day by Day, they are stopping broadcasting important channels and now we are able to watch only very few channels. We are paying for the full package and not for the few channels right? But no one has turned up for retuning to new sattellite yet, despite several calls to the customer care. My neighbours are also facing the same problem and for their complaints also no response.
My recommendation is NEVER buy sundirect.
One more incident is that... I purchased a addon packagae (which includes HBO) but the channel was not opened for me. So, called to the customer care and they told to keep the HBO channel as current channel and leave it for some 30 minutes, then the channel will be unlocked to you. I just kept HBO for more than 2 hours but it did not unlock for me for the entire days. Only by next day, I was able to watch HBO. Here, I have lost "one day" in the add-on package cost and I could not watch other channels as I was awaiting HBO.
