Neo (Keanu Reeves) is a computer programmer cum hacker who has a monotonous life. He also has sleeping problems. One day he comes across Trinity (Carrie Ann Moss) who takes him to ’’The Matrix’’. The chief of the matrix is Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne). The Human Beings are all just puppets in the hand of someone who is controlling them or programmers of the matrix. The Matrix is the real world and the earth and the human beings shown are mere puppets is what is shown to neo. Neo is the choosen one who has to overthrow the matrix with along with rebels Morpheus and trinity. He has to fight the agents who want the machines or the Artiifical Intelligence to rule Earth. In the terminology of the matrix it would be as if the human beings and the earth is a computer program controlled by programmers of the matrix and the agents are the computer virus. Superb Visual Effects, Excellent and Intelligent Script and mind boggling suspense is what keeps the movie going. Everyone’s acted very well and the icing on the cake is that the script is NOT a cliche story with special effects. Some of the special effect scenes are wonderful and have been even used as spoof scenes in many later to follow movies like Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo, Austin Powers etc. And the Saying of the movie is perfect, ’’No one can be told what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself.’’ Watch out for the superb Time-Freezing shots in the film.

1) Ewan McGregor and Will Smith were offered the part of Neo, but both turned it down. Val Kilmer was at one time attached to play Morpheus.
2) All actors had to undergo rigorous martial art training for their roles.
3) Neo is often referred to as the ’’One’’. One is an anagram of Neo.
4) The Movie is largely inspired from a film released a year earlier, Dark City. Many of the Sets were infact the same ones which were used in Dark City.
5) The film took over 1 and a half years to complete.

Oops
1) When Neo drops the phone, the first time you see the phone falling, there is a parade marching in the street below. In the next scene the street is empty.
2) In one scene you can clearly make out that the movie is shot in Australia and not USA when the sydney harbour bridge is shown in the background.
3) In the climax when Morpheus escapes the military building he breaks his handcuffs but they remain on. When Neo grabs Morpheus, in mid air, no handcuffs are visible. The handcuffs re-appear when Neo drops Morpheus onto one hand.
