It is time for a new wardrobe. Some of the things you have are no longer in style, you dont want them anymore, they are too hard to care for or you just plain want a new wardrobe so go for it.
First of all you do not have to spend a lot of money to have a new wardrobe and you also dont need a closet full to have a complete wardrobe. This advice is more for the ladies but some tips can be used by men so just ignore the womens part.
Underwear. Okay bras I purchase new and I get good ones. They last for years. I have one that is over 20 years old. I wear white and black only. Black to wear with dark clothing and white to wear with light clothing. If you wear strapless stresses you may want one additional bra but you do not need a whole drawer full. You can wear them a couple of times before washing as they really do not get dirty.
Underpants I also buy new and I keep about a dozen pairs enough to last till laundry day and a few extra in case I am going away. I always keep one brand new package unopened in case of a hospital stay or a doctors appointment where you know you might be sitting in just your underwear.
Socks you only need enough to get to laundry day again in basic colors that go with anything. Same with nightgowns. I have all of this sort of thing contained in 2 dresser drawers.
Now for regular clothing you can find some brand new things in consignment and thrift shops or you can buy off season in the store when things cost less. If a lady has black slacks, white slacks, the same in blouses and sweaters you have your basic wardrobe.
You can change the look with a pretty scarf, a vest or a blazer jacket with it. I also recommend a couple of printed blouses for a variety and any color will do as anything goes with black or white. If you have a favorite color you may want one smashing outfit that you splurge on.
You should have one suit for certain occasions, men may want two or more. Beige is another color that goes well with most anything so just mix and match and work with accesories for different looks. You might be surprised to find you only need a couple of dozen hangers for all your clothing.
Another thought is make different things out of what you have. For example a nice denim purse can be made out of a pair of worn out jeans. You might also take the top half of one dress and sew it to the bottom of another and get an entirely different dress.
There are so many things you can do without a lot of expense. You might also want to swap some things with a friend or relative who wears the same size you do. Remember if you have the basics you are set for any occasion.
