She sank......

The night of 14th april , 1912 she was traveling at the speed of 20.5 knots.

Amidst all that discrimination between first class and third class people the environment was so full of life and celebrations everywhere.

Life was celebrating all its colors in various forms like champagne, music, dance, laughter, love, hate??

It was as beautiful as it could have been.

Nobody had the remotest idea that within a few hours she will be 12, 500 feet under the surface of water.

Titanic The epic of a movie which managed almost all the Oscars of that year except best actor and best actress. I have no words for director James Cameron.

The way he captured the minutiae of those last moments when Titanic was about to sink and with it were to sink 1500+ lives, thousands of dreams and much more.

The movie will leave you with several thoughts in your mind and not to mention it will keep you spellbound for hours.

Plot Jack dawson together with some friends win the ticket to the promised land America on titanic in a poker game . In his own words We are the luckiest sons of bitches in this whole world.

Rose DeWitt Bukater who is accompanying her millionaire fiancé cal fall in love with jack which as u can safely assume was not acceptable at all. The movie is the two day love story of jack and rose wrapped in horrifying sequences of sinking titanic.

Star cast Leonardo Di Caprio as Jack Dawson, Kate winslet as Rose and Billy Zane as Cal Hockley .

I can safely say that everybody did justice to their part. Apart from the lead characters all the others were impressive in their respective roles. Can?t catch any fault on that front.

Music It grabbed the 1997 academy for best dramatic score. Music director James Horner will be forever rememberd for his music for titanic. why forget that Immortal number by Celine Dion My heart will go on...

Is it merely a love story? Naah?

Undoubtedly it?s a beautiful love story but the movie has much more to itself then the love part of it.

It says too much about life and life?s supremacy above everything else.

It shows how kindest of human being behaves in unkindest manner in a crisis of life.

It shows that victory of humanity over the class discrimination and Victorian values in those times.

Here are some excerpts from the movie and see how differently people behaves with a few hours to live.

Jack , a poor guy meets Rose, a high society girl and they fell in love. Rose despite having the opportunity to save her life decides against it and risk her life in order to save the love of her life. Such is love?

A mother of two who knows that just because she is a third class passenger she won?t make it to the list of those to board the life saving boat. See her comforting her kids saying A few minutes more dear and everything will be fine

If only the kid knew what ?Fine? means here. About class discrimination?

A couple who decides to stay back on sinking ship cause only one of them could be saved. They rather decide to pass their last moment together in each other?s arms and die the way they lived. Such is Togetherness ?.

The orchestra men who decides to play cheerful music , a futile attempt at consoling dying men .They decided to be helpful in best possible manner when everyone else was busy having their life.

They know hardly anybody will listen to them but as they said who listen to us at the dinner time anyways. The passion for work?

Captain , where should me and my kids go sir?? asks a lady to the ship captain. The captain who was supposed to be responsible for 2700+ lives on ship was now carrying the onus of as many deaths. Responsibility?what can he do?

The ship is about to sink and a group of people are holding on to the hand of a clergyman . Thinking perhaps God will save them. Alas ! Death knows no discrimination between the Man of God and rest of the human beings. Such is belief?

Finally I conclude it with an example of Love again. When everybody else was regretting the moment they boarded titanic there was Jack Dawson dying in the freezing water saying The moment I boarded titanic was the luckiest moment of my life. Why? Cause he met the love of his life on this ship and who cares if it lasted only two days.

You’re going to die an old woman, warm in your bed, not here, not tonight he says.

I know almost all of us have seen this movie. This review was an attempt to remind or rather discuss various aspects of it with all MSians.

I hope it was bearable.
