Yamaha has launched the fazer with high hopes.They feel that it will give them the desperately needed turnaround in sales figures. Will the fazer accomplish its mission?
First its looks. You decide, either drop dead gorgeous or unbearable (the headlamps). It has two headlamps which many people may not like.The fazer will stand out in a crowd of bikes. But ofcourse, many people will love it too. Leave the headlamp and the rest of the bike looks amazing. Especially the tail lamps which make the bike look like it is moving even when at standstill. When viewed from the side the first thing you notice is the absence of flashy graphics(which makes the bike look elegant and speedy). Most of the bikes in india have too many graphics(or stickers)which make them look too flashy.
The performance is excellent.The bike is much faster than its competitors, has more power, etc.it is almost a second faster than tvs victor glx from 0-60.afterall it is a yamaha. The top speed is more than 105. But it disappoints with its fuel efficiency. It gives only about 45-50 km/l. This may take away many customers from yamaha. One more dissapointment is the absence of disk breaks. They are standard on almost all bikes in this segment. There is no fuel gauge either(yamaha does not seem to care about anything considering fuel!)
Yamaha has brought the fazer to india for a desperately needed turn about(in sales). It looks like the fazer is all set to conquer the 125 cc segment. But (there is always a but) the fuel efficiency is not up to the mark. Yamaha has to keep its fingers crossed.
