I spent my early life in India from 1934 until 1947 and most of that was in Lawrence Schools and Colleges. My father was a cavalryman and transferred to the Indian Army at the start of the 39/45 War spending time in the Western Desert, Eritrea, El Alamein and then Italy. I returned to England after the War and joined the Army spending 12 years travelling all over the place. When I came out of the Army I could not stay in one place and as a Ladies Shoe Designer travelled the world again. I settled down in 1973 in Colchester, a Garrison town with some history behind it. Travel, Reading, Writing, Photography, Judo, Tai Chi, Genealogy and Family History as well as local History . Swimming, Music, Languages, Computing.

I agree with everything that the reviewer writes but feel that they have not gone far enough. I realise that one feels limited by how much people will read but Saga Magazine, in my opinion, is a very good read indeed. I have, over the years, flown by many airlines and luckily, with very few poor airlines. Some years ago I stopped using these 'Charter' airl read more...

The rock of Gibraltar deserves a much more detailed opinion. I found most of your review cynical but true nonetheless. I have been there many times and there is much more to do than visit the many pubs - still every man (or woman) to their own delight. Les.

I read, recently, that the owner of the Ooty private club where a young army officer invented the game of snooker, that she expects all visitors to wear collar and tie and keep up the old Raj spirit of the stiff upper lip. Some things will never change.
Hi Preethven, I agree in principle, the world is better looked at through rose coloured glasses. In this case, as you say, misty blue. The misty blue of the blue mountains.
Hi Preethven. There is nothing difficult about learning Spanish, or any other language, for that matter. It is a matter of a little application. You learned English didn't you? Preethven obviously loves the place, that fact not only shines out from his opinion but it is in every word that he writes.
