Cancer and suicide seems to be the major reasons killings Indians. 75% of deaths in India happen at home, work or on the street. The Cause of the deaths were a mystery until recently when MDS( Million Death Study), a Prabhat Jha Project conducted a survey to find the causes of death by region.

Most the factors have to do with surrounding environment, stressful jobs and malaria carrying mosquitoes, while the most prevalent diseases in India were respiratory problems like asthma.

Death due to Road Traffic Injuries are most common in states of Haryana and Punjab, reckless Driving is to blame for this.

Cancer is the most prevalent reason in the north eastern states. All most all types of cancer is present, breast cancer being the most frequent cause. HIV is the most prevalent cause in Maharashtra and Karnataka while Malaria is most common case in Odisha. Suicides rates are quite high in the state of Tamil Nadu while Snake Bite seems to be the major cause in Andhra Pradesh.
