ANKHIYON KE JHAROKHON SE SEQUEL RELEASES TOMORROW!

It’s the era of sequels and one such film that was made sans any publicity is Jaana Pehchana. It releases tomorrow and is the sequel to Ankhiyon Ke Jharonkhon Se. The film is directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar himself, who was there in Part 1 and also features in lead role in the sequel. Although Ranjeeta’s character dies in Part 1, she features in Part 2 as well as the author who enters Sachin’s life as his biographer and ends up healing his wounds, which were fresh even after the death of his love 30 years ago.

Ankhiyon Ke Jharonkhon Se was loved by many and if the producers, Rajshri, had worked on the promotion a bit, then I am sure many would have turned up to see Jaana Pehchana. Sadly, the promotion is negligible and so is the hype and awareness for the film. Moreover, in Hum Aapke Hai Koun style, Jaana Pehchana would be released in only 1 theatre of Mumbai (Liberty, New Marine Lines), while it’ll be released with 29 prints in the rest of India. Even Vivah was released in the same manner and as the film grew by word of mouth, Barjatyas increased the print, just as the case was for Hum Aapke Hai Koun. However, the same would be impossible in the case of Jaana Pehchana, even if it gets good response because the times have changed. Multiple films are releasing every week and hence promotion is absolutely necessary for creating among the audiences’ awareness and excitement, in that order. Anyways, lets still hope Jaana Pehchana succeeds!

LETS NOT REPEAT AN ANIL KAPOOR WITH AMITABH BACHCHAN!

Pleasant news came out last week that Amitabh Bachchan has signed a Hollywood film, which also marks his debut in the West. Titled The Great Gatsby, the film is based on a famous novel and also stars Toby Maguire and my favourite Leonardo Dicaprio and is directed by Baz Luhrmann. As the news came out, every website/newspaper/magazine associated with entertainment published it, some dailies even giving it front page coverage. Congratulation messages and tweets followed. Big B did emphasize that he has only a special appearance in the film but this aspect was overlooked.

After couple of months, the promo of the film will be out. Amitabh obviously won’t feature in it as his role is merely a cameo. His fans and others would be disappointed with it. It’s at this point that someone would remind that Amitji doesn’t have a huge role in the film. This time, the news will spread like wild fire. The same people and journos who exaggerated the news that Big B has signed a Hollywood film will this time criticize him in turn for ‘publicity stunt’! Whereas the truth is Amitabh Bachchan, not even once, shouted from the rooftops, about The Great Gatsby. He even went to Australia last month for preparations for the role without anyone knowing about it.

Few months back, Anil Kapoor faced the same ordeal. He had bagged Mission Impossible 4 and was to appear in cameo, the fact that was suppressed. He obviously didn’t feature in the promo of MI4 and poor Anil was thrashed for flying too high after getting a miniscule role in a biggie. However, when did he ever give a wrong indication that he has a huge role? Show me one interview where there’s a slightest indication of the same.

Let’s treat our celebs with respect!
