I woke up at around 8:30 AM on friday and half sleepy, half eyes open, I got hold of the Times of India and what I saw in the 1st page left me DumbStruck!!!! They were planning to sack MSD from Captaincy and make Sehwag The Captain of the ODI Team as well as the T20 Team. So, after trying all the permutations and combinations, finally BCCI had found their ScapeGoat. Someone had to be blamed for the poor performance;someone had to make the scarifice for that and it was Dhoni's turn this time.
The TRP-hungry Media had finally found that piece of tabloid that will keep them going for a few more days. As far as the media is concerned, that's what is expected from them but what really dissappointed me the most is the bashing provided by a few Ex-Cricketers who themselves were never half as good as the current crop of Players. Atleast a better reaction was expected from the Ex-Players who are in the best position to understand the sentiments of the Players. Noone plays to lose. But at the End of the day-You win some;you lose some. They should understand that.
But what was heartening is the support the players got from other fronts. Big B, Javagal Srinath, Dilip Vengsarkar came out supporting the cricketers and finally the players were backed by non other than THE GOD-Sachin Tendulkar. And by Saturday morning, BCCI had realised that Sacking Dhoni is not the solution to the problem. They need to get into the root cause and try to fix them rather than making blatant excuses.
What people should understand is that our Cricketers are no GODs. They cannot win all the time. So, lets not exert so much pressure on them which impacts their performance. Let them express themselves with complete freedom. That should definitely have a positive impact on their own performance as well as the team.
Cheers-
