Twitter updated its Android app Monday with additional photo-editing, sharing and discovery features.

The changes are are meant to make it easier to share and edit photos from within the app, Users can now rotate and crop photos to wide or square aspects before sharing them. The app also prompts users to mention friends when photos of people are uploaded.

This is just the latest in a series of changes Twitter has made to emphasize photo-sharing.

Photos and Vines started popping up inline in users' timelines last October. Twitter also opened up photo-sharing via direct message in December. Later that month, it also released an update, which surfaces a user's photo gallery instead of a keyboard when he or she starts to compose a tweet.

In addition to photos, the update added a new way for users to discover fresh content. When users refresh their timelines, and there are no new tweets to display, the app might instead load trending topics, recommended accounts to follow or popular tweets. U.S. residents will also see news, entertainment and sport updates.
