Although today man has progressed greatly and can make anything seem possible, our progress has been very limited in terms of exporing the universe and educating man about it. Today,although astronomy helps in capturing images of stars and galaxies millions of light-years away,people hardly know anything about it.In other words,we as human beings have failed in looking at things slightly beyond our imagination.We have failed to make proper use of science which guides us into the unknown.

People's knowledge regarding the universe is so poor,that very few people even know about the nine planets,moon and everything else in the solar system,which indeed is just a tiny fractional part of what man has discovered so far.I have heard many people saying that the Sun is a planet and the Moon is a star and all sorts of such rubbish.Practically looking at today's situation,astronomy has little or no scope at all.I don't think that there are many people aspiring to become great astronomers or star gazers.I agree that this is because astronomy would only help us to increase our knowledge and would not bring about any practical benefits to mankind.But,if people could be fascinated by Sci-fi movies,scientific discoveries,inventions,latest gadgets,gizmos as well as astrology, which are thought provoking and helps

people to imagine a step beyond our daily chores,why not the same in astronomy?

I have been fascinated by the Universe right from childhood itself. I used to read books from the Childcraft book series and one of those books,titled The Universe enhanced my fascination.As the years passed by,I often shared my knowledge regarding it to as many people I knew.Even now,I often read articles regarding the Universe from the Internet as well as see such shows on television.

Man has been on earth for many thousands,possibly millions of years.Scientists and experts predict that by the year 2050, the world population would rise upto nearly 20 billion people and it would keep rising as the years go by.Practically speaking, man would have to struggle for space in the next century or two due to the current population expansion and the gradual decrease of natural resources.Someday or the other,man would have to look beyond the earth for survival. According to me,the Universe would be the only option.
