Volvo recently revealed more details about the new 2015 XC90 and its new touch-heavy infotainment system.
Being the Sensus system’s expansion, the new infotainment system will not just feature a vertically oriented, large touchscreen, but also the ability to handle the system through buttons mounted on wheel and a heads-up display.
The main key to the whole experience is the portrait oriented, large touchscreen, the thumb controls, and a head-up display. According to the automaker, this combination will be absolutely safer and easier to use.
The senior vice president of R&D of Volvo, Dr. Peter Mertens told that it is so logical to use the screen that till will soon turn out to be a part of the owner’s or driver’s muscle memory. The media, navigation and information are high up, making it easy to check, while the climate controls, application icons and phone controls are positioned low, making it comfortable to reach out to.
Further, Mertens said that the whole of this logic was based on research of user experience and extensive usability.
