I and my family (wife and kid) stayed at Hotel Rendezvous on 12-May-09 night during a brief tour of Gangtok. After reaching there we discovered that the hotel’s key facilities were just being constructed then, importantly the lift and restaurant’s wash room, making us trek well within the hotel. Ours was a CPAI plan with complimentary breakfast for two.
Being a buffet, breakfast was fairly sufficing, and of good quality. Dinner and lunch items were also of good quality, though only limited items were available, and somewhat priced. The room (double) was quite spacious, in fact almost twice as much more spacious than an average Indian hotel’s room. I was surprised that no heating was around, and wonder how guests would manage in the Himalayan winter.
The hotel was rather strict about 12 noon checkout, but the staff were courteous and had arranged to secure our luggage safe in another temporary place until 3 pm when we were ready to leave. All said and done, I feel the hotel is ok for a family to stay sometime in the future when all their facilities are ready for use, I guess by June ’09, but check on the heating arrangement if getting there for a winter holiday!
