Looking at their US local call charges at $1.32 per minute I am not sure if it is value for money. I will have to call taxi or a friend. The free electric heater coil costs only Rs 500. In India FPC and ETC will be same. We do not bother about efficiency here. A normal home is not constrained by area required for a panel on the roof. If the FPC is 60% as efficient as ETC, you will need 50% more FPC panel to heat same amount of water. read more...

ETC is not required in India where the outside temperature does not drop so much (I am talking about sub zero). The heat lost in the night from the tank and panel is proportional to the higher powers of temperature difference between outside and inside the tank. Well, the cost involved in piping is understandable. Regarding the extra structure required for additional tank, you could use a pump with electronics to start it when the taps are open.
